About the training
Rough terrain trucks have the ground clearance, tyres and drive to work on unmade ground. The masted type (J1) handles like a counterbalance; the telescopic handler, or telehandler, uses a boom that extends and raises to place loads at height and distance, which brings load charts and stability into the course.
RTITB category J2 covers rough terrain telescopic handlers lifting under nine metres and J3 those lifting nine metres and above. J4 is the industrial telescopic handler used on hard standing in yards and factories. We train and test on the category that matches your machines.

No. A telescopic handler is its own RTITB category (J2, J3 or J4 depending on the machine and lift height). The course covers the boom, the load chart and stability at reach, which a counterbalance course does not. Counterbalance operators take a conversion course.
Both are rough terrain telescopic handlers. J2 covers machines lifting to under nine metres; J3 covers machines lifting to nine metres and above. Your certificate is issued for the category you test on.
Yes. For rough terrain and telescopic machines we usually recommend it, so operators train on the ground conditions and the machine they will work with. Our instructors travel nationwide.
We train on your site, on your machines, nationwide. Tell us how many operators and which trucks, and we will quote.
