What we collect, and why
We collect different types of information depending on how you use this website.
Enquiries and bookings
When you submit a contact, quote, sales, hire, service or training enquiry, we collect your name, company name, phone number, email address, location and the message you provide, so that we can respond to you. This is processed on the basis that it is necessary to take steps at your request before, or to perform, a contract with you, or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our business.
When you book a training course through this website, we additionally collect the booking company's details, the name of the person making the booking, and the name of each delegate attending, so that the course and its certificates can be arranged correctly.
Payment for course bookings made through this website is handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your card details — Stripe processes the payment and tells us only that it succeeded, and the email address you paid with.
Website usage data
Like most websites, our hosting and analytics tools automatically log some technical information about your visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the time and date of your visit. We use this in aggregate to understand how the website is used and to keep it working correctly.
Cookies
We use Cookiebot to manage cookie consent on this website. On your first visit you are shown a banner where you can choose which categories of cookies to allow; no non-essential cookie is set until you do.
If you consent to analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — page views, time on page, and general location at country/region level. This data is processed by Google on our behalf and is not used to identify you personally.
Strictly necessary cookies (for example, to remember your cookie preference itself, or to keep you signed in to the admin area) are set regardless of consent, as the website cannot function correctly without them.
You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time using the cookie preferences link in this website's footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser. More general information about cookies is available at www.allaboutcookies.org.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run the website and our business, with the following processors:
- Stripe — to process payments for training course bookings.
- Resend — to send enquiry and booking confirmation emails on our behalf.
- Vercel and Neon — to host the website and store its database securely.
- Google (Analytics) and Cookiebot — to measure website usage and manage cookie consent, only where you have given analytics consent.
Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where that is the case, they do so under a data processing agreement and recognised safeguards, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision, that require your data to be protected to UK standards.
We do not currently send marketing emails, texts or calls, and there is no marketing sign-up on this website. If that changes in future, we will ask for your separate, explicit consent before adding you to any marketing list, and you will be able to withdraw it at any time.
We may also share information where we are legally required to, to prevent or investigate wrongdoing connected with the website, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and contact-form submissions for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, after which they are deleted unless you have an ongoing booking or account relationship with us.
Booking and payment records are kept for as long as required by UK tax and accounting law — currently up to 7 years — after which they are deleted.
This is a general policy rather than a fixed rule for every situation: where a shorter or longer period is genuinely needed, we will apply that instead.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your data, where we are not required to keep it
- Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing
- Ask for your data in a portable format, where applicable
To make any of these requests, contact us at enquiries@bjblifttrucks.co.uk. There is no charge for a straightforward request, and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we hold, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) throughout this website and access controls on our systems.
