New forklifts for sale, chosen around the work

PPT / New equipment

Powered pallet trucks

The first machine in every warehouse.

Pedestrian and ride-on pallet trucks move loads across the floor and onto the wagon without the strain going through the operator.

Power

Electric — lithium or lead-acid

Capacity

Typically 1.5 – 3.0 t

Lift

Floor level

Use

Moving pallets across the floor, loading and unloading wagons

Environment

Warehouses, goods-in, loading bays, retail back of house

New equipment

Stackers

Lift and place, without the footprint.

Pedestrian and ride-on stackers put pallets into racking in stores where a counterbalance would never fit.

Power

Electric — lithium or lead-acid

Capacity

Typically 1.0 – 2.0 t

Lift

To around 5 m

Use

Putting pallets into and out of racking at low to medium height

Environment

Narrow stores, back of house, smaller warehouses

New equipment

Reach trucks

Reach higher. Store more.

Reach trucks work tight aisles and tall racking, putting pallets away at heights a counterbalance cannot get to.

Power

Electric

Capacity

Typically 1.4 – 2.5 t

Lift

To around 12 m

Use

High-level put-away and retrieval in racked aisles

Environment

Racked warehousing, distribution centres, cold stores

New equipment

Counterbalance

The all-rounder.

An electric forklift for indoor work, a diesel forklift for the yard, LPG where you need both — for the lorry, the yard and the racking, this is the machine most operations run first.

Power

Electric, diesel or LPG

Capacity

Typically 1.0 – 5.0 t

Lift

To around 7 m

Use

Loading and unloading, yard work, general put-away

Environment

Indoor and outdoor — warehouses, yards, ramps

New equipment

Heavy counterbalance

When the load is measured in tonnes, not pallets.

High-capacity trucks for steel, containers, precast and everything the standard fleet cannot lift.

Power

Diesel

Capacity

Typically 10 – 25 t and above

Lift

To around 8 m

Use

Steel, coils, containers, precast and timber packs

Environment

Ports, steel yards, precast works, timber

New equipment

Order pickers

Pick the order, not the whole pallet.

Low, medium and high-level pickers bring the operator to the stock for fast, accurate case picking.

Power

Electric

Capacity

Low, medium and high level

Lift

To around 10 m

Use

Case and piece picking with the operator at the stock

Environment

Distribution, e-commerce, parts stores

VNA / New equipment

Very narrow aisle trucks

Every aisle narrower. Every rack fuller.

VNA trucks turn the forks, not the truck, so you can run aisles under two metres and stack to the roof.

Power

Electric

Capacity

Typically 1.0 – 1.5 t

Lift

To around 15 m

Use

High-density storage in aisles from around 1.6 m

Environment

High-bay warehousing

New equipment

Scissor lifts

A stable platform, wherever the job is.

Electric and rough-terrain scissor lifts for maintenance, installation and fit-out at height.

Power

Electric or diesel

Capacity

Platform typically 230 – 450 kg

Lift

Platform height to around 18 m

Use

Maintenance, installation, fit-out, straight-up access

Environment

Facilities, construction, warehouses, rough terrain

More on Powered access equipment.

New equipment

Boom lifts

Up, over and across.

Articulating and telescopic booms reach up and out around obstacles, for work no scissor can get to.

Power

Electric or diesel

Capacity

Platform typically 230 kg

Lift

Working height to 40 m and above

Use

Cladding, M&E, maintenance — reaching over and around

Environment

Construction and industrial sites, outdoor

New equipment

Cleaning equipment

A clean floor is a safe floor.

Ride-on and pedestrian sweepers and scrubber-dryers that keep the floor part of the operation, not a hazard in it.

Power

Battery or engine

Capacity

Working width typically 0.7 – 1.5 m

Lift

Pedestrian or ride-on

Use

Sweeping and scrubbing floors, indoors and out

Environment

Warehouses, yards, production floors, car parks

New equipment

Articulated trucks

One truck for the yard and the aisle.

Articulated counterbalance trucks steer through the middle, so one machine unloads the lorry outside and stacks in aisles under two metres inside.

Power

Electric or LPG

Capacity

Typically 1.5 – 2.5 t

Lift

To around 12 m

Use

Lorry to rack in one movement, indoors and out

Environment

Narrow-aisle warehouses with outdoor unloading

New equipment

Loading shovels

Bulk moved by the bucket.

Wheeled loading shovels for aggregates, waste, grain and anything handled loose rather than on a pallet.

Power

Diesel

Capacity

Bucket typically 1 – 5 m³

Lift

Hinge-pin height to around 4 m

Use

Loading hoppers, wagons and stockpiles; re-handling bulk material

Environment

Quarries, recycling, agriculture, ports

New equipment

Dumper trucks

Carry it there, tip it out.

Site dumpers for moving spoil, aggregate and materials around a working site.

Power

Diesel

Capacity

Typically 1 – 9 t payload

Lift

Front tip, swivel tip or high tip

Use

Moving spoil and materials across a site

Environment

Construction sites, groundworks, farms

New equipment

Telehandlers

Lift it, and reach it there.

Telescopic handlers lift and reach in one movement: loading from one side of the lorry, placing over obstacles and stacking where a mast truck cannot get close enough.

Power

Diesel or electric

Capacity

Typically 2.5 – 4.0 t

Lift

To around 6 m and beyond, with forward reach

Use

One-sided lorry loading, reaching over and into, rough ground

Environment

Yards, builders' merchants, agriculture, waste, construction

New equipment

Loading ramps

A loading bay wherever you need one.

Mobile yard ramps that let a forklift drive straight into a container or lorry from ground level, without a dock.

Power

None — towed into position

Capacity

Typically 6 – 10 t

Lift

Adjustable to lorry-bed height

Use

Loading and unloading containers and lorries

Environment

Yards and sites without a loading dock
