Forklift hire for a shift, a season or a year

Demand moves. A hired machine covers a peak, replaces one that is off the road, or carries a project without committing to a purchase. Short term forklift hire and long term forklift hire from our own fleet, across Lincolnshire and nationwide.

We hire from our own fleet of around 450 machines, which is what lets us answer availability questions directly rather than checking with someone else first.

Short term forklift hire when something has broken or a peak has arrived. Long term forklift hire when you want the machine without the asset on your balance sheet.

What we cover

Short-term hire
A day, a week or a month. Common for seasonal peaks and for cover while a machine of your own is being repaired.

Longer arrangements where you need the capability continuously but would rather not buy.

Which hire suits the job

The choice is usually less about the machine than about how long you need it and who carries the risk while you have it.

What is in the hire fleet

Around 450 machines, and it is not only counterbalance forklifts. Electric, diesel and LPG counterbalance trucks from about a tonne upwards, heavy counterbalance for steel, timber and container work, reach trucks and very narrow aisle trucks for racked warehousing, powered pallet trucks and stackers for the floor, order pickers, telehandlers and rough-terrain machines for yards and sites, scissor lifts and boom lifts for work at height, and industrial sweepers and scrubbers. If the job needs a machine we do not hold, we will say so rather than send the nearest thing.

Short term forklift hire

A day to a few months. This is the call when a truck has failed mid-shift, when a seasonal peak needs a second machine on the loading bay, or when a project brings work your own fleet was never sized for. Because the fleet is ours, we can usually tell you on the phone whether the machine exists and when it can be on your site, rather than ringing round and calling you back.

Long term forklift hire

A year or more, with servicing, LOLER thorough examination and breakdown cover inside the hire rather than billed on top. It suits an operation that needs the capability continuously but would rather not tie up capital in a depreciating asset, or one whose contract length is shorter than the working life of a truck. When the work changes, the machine goes back instead of sitting in a corner.

Hire or buy

If the machine will run most days for years, buying usually wins on total cost. If the need is seasonal, uncertain, or tied to one contract, hire almost always does. We sell as well as hire, so we have no reason to push you one way, and the hire, new or used guide sets out the arithmetic we would walk you through anyway.

Access equipment too

What comes with the truck

Delivery and collection on our own transport, routine servicing, the statutory LOLER thorough examination and breakdown support from our own service department. Fuel or charging and the operator are yours. If your operators are not certificated on the type of truck you are hiring, we can train them on the machine at your site — a hired truck carries exactly the same training duty as one you own.

Insurance while you hire

Hired-in plant insurance is required for the duration of the hire: cover for loss, theft or damage to the machine from the moment it is delivered to the moment we collect it, in line with standard industry hire conditions. Your own public and employers’ liability insurance should also extend to cover its operation on your site. If you are not sure your existing policy covers hired-in plant, ask your insurer before the machine arrives — we can confirm the make, model and value for the quote.

From a few days to several years. Short-term hire covers peaks, projects and cover while a truck is repaired; long-term hire gives a fleet without capital outlay, with the truck going back when the work changes.

Across Lincolnshire and nationwide from our Grimsby base, on our own transport. Forklift hire in Lincolnshire is delivered and collected by us rather than a third party, which is why we can usually commit to a date on the call.

Yes. Alongside forklifts we hire powered access — scissor lift hire in Grimsby and across the area, plus boom lifts and cherry pickers. If your operators are not IPAF-certificated for them, we can train them on the machine at the same time.

Yes. The same training rules apply as for a truck you own: basic training on the type of truck, and your authorisation. We can train operators on the hired machine at your site if needed.

Yes. Hired-in plant insurance covering loss, theft or damage is required for the hire period, and your liability insurance should extend to its use on your site — standard practice for hired equipment. Check with your insurer before the machine arrives if you are unsure your policy already covers it.
