How much does IPAF and PASMA training cost?

The cost of IPAF training depends on the categories you take, whether it is a first course or a renewal and how many people train together. PASMA training depends on much the same things. Current prices are shown on each course page, with dates you can book online.

People searching for the cost of IPAF training or PASMA training are usually trying to budget for a team. The honest answer is that it depends, and the reasons are simple. This guide explains what changes the price so you can work out which course you need before you ask.

What affects the price?

Four things move it:

  • Which categories you take. A single category costs less than two. 3a and 3b are usually taken together as a one-day dual course, which is normally better value than booking each separately.
  • First course or renewal. A refresher for someone renewing a card is generally shorter and simpler than a first course. See how to renew an IPAF PAL Card or PASMA card.
  • Where it runs. Our Grimsby centre suits individuals and small groups. For a group, training on your own site saves travel and lets people learn on the machines they will use.
  • How many people. On-site courses are priced for the group, so the cost per person falls as the group fills the day.

How long does each course take?

Most IPAF courses are one day, and 3a with 3b is usually run together in a single day. PASMA Towers for Users is also one day. Each course page shows its length and the next dates.

What do you get for the money?

IPAF: a PAL Card showing the categories you passed, valid for five years. PASMA: a certificate and photo card, valid for five years. Both come after a theory test and a practical assessment, so the price covers the assessment as well as the teaching. If you pass, the card is what a site will ask to see, and it stays valid for five years, so the cost is spread across that time.

Is the cheapest course the best value?

Not if it is the wrong course. A 3a card does not cover a cherry picker, and a PASMA card does not cover a scissor lift, so check that the course matches the machines or towers your people will actually use. If you are not sure, ask the training team and we will tell you which course fits.

How do I get a price?

Prices and dates for each course are on the course pages, and you can book online. For an on-site course, or a group, call 01472 230244 or send us the details and we will quote for the day.
